Halloween Oreo Bat Cupcakes is one of the easiest, fun, and most exciting Halloween treats for kids and adults.

Last year, I made Halloween Mummy Hot Dogs, Halloween Chocolate Spiderweb Pie, and Easy Halloween Blood Splatter Cookies.
They were a huge hit. I also tried Halloween Donuts, Easy Halloween Candy Apples, and Mummy Brownies.
Kids loved it. Adults adored it. ❤️
This year I'll be making these Halloween Oreo Bat Cupcakes. I have been trying to perfect this recipe for quite sometimes.
And, finally, I got it right. I decided to go with devil's food cake mix to make the chocolate cupcakes and chocolate buttercream frosting.
Both were on par with my perfection standards👌

I chose to go with regular Oreo cookies broken in half to make the wings and edible candy eyeballs to make the eyes.
They taste delicious. And, I'm sure that when I arrange them on the cake stand for this year's Halloween party - they are gonna fly away like bats in a matter of seconds. 😜

How to make Bat Oreo Cupcakes for Halloween
Step 1: Bake the cupcakes
- Combine devil's food cake mix and chocolate pudding in a large bowl. Stir until combined. You can use chocolate chips (semi-sweet) if you want. Next, mix in eggs, oil, and milk. Then stir in sour cream. I like the taste of sour cream in cupcakes. And I always use oil to make my cupcakes. You can see this recipe for Moist Vanilla Cupcake Recipe With Oil.
- Pour the mixture into cupcake liners (about 3/4 of the way full). Bake for 20-25 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean. Make sure that you are not overbaking these cupcakes.
- Remove from oven and allow them to cool down on a wire cooling rack. Make sure the cupcakes are completely cooled before frosting. It's crucial that you cool the cupcakes completely before frosting. Or else, if you frost the cupcakes while they are warm or hot, the frosting will drip down, and it'll be a messy scene.

Step 2: Chocolate Buttercream Frosting
- Beat butter using an electric hand mixer for 30 seconds.
- Mix 1 cup of powdered sugar, cocoa, vanilla, and 1 tablespoon heavy cream using an electric mixer until smooth. You can replace heavy cream with half and half. We'll be adding sugar and cream in batches.
- Add another cup of powdered sugar along with ½ tablespoon of heavy cream. Beat until smooth. When you add sugar in batches, the frosting becomes creamier and smoother. And you eliminate the risk of lumps in the frosting.
- Repeat with the remaining sugar. Beat until smooth and creamy. Taste and add more vanilla and a pinch of salt if needed.

Step 3: Oreo Bat Cupcakes
- Frost the cooled cupcakes. You can use a nozzle of your choice.
- Break a regular Oreo cookie in half to make the wings and press them into the frosting.
- Press edible candy eyeballs into the middle of the frosting to make the eyes.

Tips to Keep in Mind:
- Do not overmix the cake mixture while making the cupcakes.
- Allow the cupcakes to cool down completely before frosting.
- You should always add sugar in parts while beating to make the frosting.
- Adding sugar at once will make lumps in the frosting, and it'll cause a problem when you are frosting the cupcakes.
- Make sure you break the Oreos carefully. I'd recommend cutting the Oreo cookies from the center using a sharp knife.
