Remember that you need to cool down the donuts to room temperature before you glaze them.

Also, after you've glazed them, keep them on a wire rack and then decorate them.

💡 Hint: Keep the wire rack on a lined dish so that you can catch the excess drippings and sprinklers and throw them off.

🤔 Make Ahead Halloween Donuts

Yes of course! I love to make these ahead of time. Make Ahead Donut Dough will is such a time saver.

You can cut out the donuts and refrigerate it overnight. This will give ample time for the dough to rise making them super fluffy and soft when you bake them the next morning.

You can freeze unbaked donuts. Just place cut out Donuts on a parchment paper lined dish, and freeze them until solid. Once solid, transfer to a heavy duty freezer friendly zip lock bag and freeze these Donuts. 🧊

While baking them, just place them directly in a lined baking dish and bake in the preheated oven. just bake for 5-6 more minutes.

🌱 Is this Vegan and Gluten Free?

No. But you can make these Vegan. For Vegan Donuts replace butter with Vegan Margarine and Eggs with Apple Sauce.

To make Gluten Free Donuts, replace AP Flour with AP Gluten Free Flour blend and Baking Soda with Gluten Free Baking Powder.

💯 Top tips to make the Best Halloween Brownies

  • The donut dough should be absolutely soft. If your donut dough is not soft, DO NOT add extra milk or water. Just knead it properly and it will turn smooth
  • If you're adding yeast, then activate the yeast with a few granules of sugar and water. Only upon activation, add the yeast to the dough. Cover and allow the dough to rise for 30 minutes.
  • If you have a donut mould, just pour this dough in the mould and bake the donuts
  • For making Donuts without Donut Mold, just roll a small portion of the dough and roll into an elongated cylinder. Join the edges to make a ring shaped Donut
  • Do not forget to brush the Donuts with egg wash. It gives them a crispy top and moist inside.

Notes

If you do not have self raising flour, just use the same quantity of AP Flour and use 1/2 teaspoon of Baking Powder along with all the other ingredients to make the Donut dough
If you're using yeast, activate the yeast with lukewarm water and a teaspoon of sugar. Once the yeast activates, add it to the dough along with other ingredients and knead to make a soft donut dough. Let it rest for 30 minutes, covered. Once it rises, use it to make donuts.
You can Air Fry Donuts or Deep fry them in hot oil in a deep pan or wok or bake them in a sheet pan like I did or just use a donut baking mould.
For Gluten Free Donuts replace AP Flour with Gluten Free Flour Blend and Baking Soda with Gluten Free Flour.
For Vegan Version replace Butter with Vegan Margarine and use Applesauce in place of Eggs.
