About

Hey there! Welcome to Recipe Magik ° by Surup Mazumdar

✍️From the Blogger's Desk:

Hello and welcome to Recipe Magik!

I am Surup. The voice behind Recipe Magik.

I am the recipe developer, photographer and voice behind recipe magik.

Favorite things include Autumn, my friends who are closer to me than anyone else, Medicine, my baby dog, good food and of course everything caramel!

I started this as a creative outlet back in 2019. Today its reaching so many people and its just so gratifying! I am a full time neurosurgeon my profession.

From baking brownies in those early teenage days which my dad used to rave about to going out to study medicine and cooking in my closet sized kitchen sometimes for myself or sometimes for friends. Its always been so much fun!

Also meet my twin brother Srirup, who works along with me in every step of the way. He manages the technical aspect of the blog. From the User Experience to SEO to Website design, themes, plugins its all him.

Since childhood, I have been really into food and cooking. Not to mention the fact - that I was severely overweight although I shed more than 50 pounds last year.

I learnt it from my granny. The soul behind this blog. In my blooming days you could find us sneaking into the kitchen and playing around with spices, making a whimsical recipe from scratch just for ourselves.

I loved making recipe especially, when there was a party at home. I would prepare an endless array of dishes . Just seeing my friends feeling wowed by every morsel of food would submerge me in the sea of soul-searching-satisfying and heart-warming elation.

But, that's not why I started food blogging.

I was so smitten by food, recipes and that restless curiosity within my heart to explore cuisines and food from various corners of the world that I began travelling.

You could often find me ordering the most uncommon and sometimes the most popular dishes at any local food stall. I would dive deep into the taste. I would talk endlessly expressing the flavors through our words.

That's when it struck us like a lightning.

Why don't I blog about it. Let's just open our hearts and share our knowledge of food, taste, and cuisines with the world.

Starting the journey apprehensively, with hearts full of doubts and mind bursting with childlike excitement, I have made it into the fourth year of our food blogging journey.

Well, now I can gladly say that I am more than contended.

Not because of the revenue I make out of it. But, because how I could traverse the path with self confidence, sheer determination, and long nights of prayers and perspirations.

I still can't forget that first time when we got that 5-star rating for a recipe. Or those nascent days when we would see that we got a person from one corner of the world reading our post.

We would stare at the screen until the analytics showed the user had left......

From that one user reading our blog to millions of user reading our blogs everyday, its been one hell of a topsy turvy ride.

Now when we look at those days, we still cannot satiate ourselves.

We feel, we need to reach out to more people and help the world learn how to make easy simple and basic recipes with a touch of magic!

I share tried and tested good family friendly recipes for everyday cooking, inspired from my Indian Heritage and Western Influences.

I love giving healthy makeovers to traditional recipes which everyone can enjoy and suit every diet. If you are here you can find Healthy Dinner recipes to Keto & Low Carb Meals to Healthy Breakfast recipes to Healthy Desserts!

Also there is a separate category of Vegan recipes and recipes for every single diet - Gluten Free Recipes, Paleo, Whole30 recipes, Flexitarian Recipes & Mediterranean Diet recipes.

Simple Cooking Techniques, Easy to follow instructions, Quick and Budget Friendly Recipes for everyday cooking which are health-ish but definitely delicious, kid-friendly, and perfect dinners for the family.

A few years back I read somewhere that healthy basically means - "Heal Thy"! That was powerful.

Since then I boarded onto a journey of making and sharing healthy recipes with y'all. It's been such a wonderful journey so far.

Come along with me on my mission to eat simple and healthy food for a better everyday living.

We are a family of five - Me, my father, Biswarup Mazumdar ,my mother, Anjali Mazumdar, my Brother, Srirup , and my Golden Retriever - Baby Zoe, living in India.

I started this blog back in July 2019 as a creative outlet.

And today it has grown to be our full time business, one of the most read food blogs reaching to millions of users every month with out healthy and easy recipes.

I mostly blog about American, Indian and Asian recipes. Also, from time to time, I create some Middle Eastern and Mediterranean Recipes.

Our Team

Meet Surup

Hi, I'm Surup

Cooking has been my passion since childhood.

After going out to study and making everyday dinner for myself in my closet sized kitchen, I fell in love with cooking.

There are so many recipes and stories related to those recipes.

Today, when I get to blog about them, share the stories associated with each and every recipe, it feels so good.

From trying new cuisines to adapting to newer ways of cooking keeping the nutritional needs and dietary needs in mind, it's all a journey that I so wanted to document and share with everyone.

Today doing that every day makes me feel so glad.

Making new recipes everyday, blogging about them, learning Photography techniques, and Food Styling, I really felt like I found a community in this blogging world. Since then, it has been so an amazing journey...!

I started this as a hobby but soon realized that this was reaching to more audience than I ever could have imagines.

Then began the journey of Recipe Magik, where I was working right from dawn to dusk, creating recipes, blogging, social media marketing, photography and so on!

My Journey as a food photographer

When I started this blog, I took the worst photos! I used my iphone to photograph some of my recipes 🙈.

Seriously, those close knit overhead shots were so bad. I still feel embarrassed about those.

But they are still on the blog as a memory! But I soon realized I need to up my game to compete with other bloggers

Then I started using my Canon200dMarkii, using better lights, stand, and of course props. And it has helped me a lot to shoot better photos of my food.

My Brother

This is Srirup. He is the Co Owner of this business. He handles the technical aspect of this business, besides developing recipes from time to time, managing the SEO, to technical support to Website Designs to User Experience.

Meet Zoe

She is the constant source of positivity and happiness in our lives and helps us share that positivity through our recipes with y'all. Not to mention, the one who's always below the kitchen table, while we are cooking!

How RECIPE MAGIK was started

A lot of you might wonder why the Name "Recipe Magik"!

Well, for me The kitchen has been a place of Magic. Since childhood, I used to love my Mom talking about recipes, discussing kitchen tricks with my grandma, and others. I loved those stories, where they would go, "Oh! There's an easy trick which I use for this one..." 🙂

And I loved it so much. I never made notes of those but I loved hearing them. When I was a teenager, I automatically took over the kitchen.

From helping Mom in everyday cooking to baking out Cakes and Brownies once in a while, which my Dad used to love and rave about 🙂

Finally, after I went to study out, I learned more recipes from books, magazines, and online. And that was an experience on its own.

Dishing out recipes from minimal ingredients, budgeting my recipes, baking cakes in an Instant Pot for the kids to making innovative lunch boxes every day! But also so much fun.

I learned so many recipes from my Grandma. She was an expert cook and her recipes were to die for. Learning from her, the skills and techniques made me realize that cooking is not just a daily affair. It's a whole mood in itself. It's a journey, which I love to live every day.

I love to wake up, hit the kitchen, and get started with brewing my coffee, bake my muffins, get the toast and eggs ready!

And how magically, the aroma of food, wakes everyone up around the house. Even I feel refreshed and excited to start my day. For me, food is life. However, mood you're in food is always the solution for it!

Hence, I thought of the name - Recipe Magik. Why the "K" and not "C". Well, I tried looking for Recipe Magic, but it was already taken, so I thought, of going with magik with a "K". Also, I thought, when it comes to magic, your logic fails you right, and here its all about the magic of recipes, which will make a boring day a special one!

Food for me is not just recipes. It's so much more than that. It's a whole mood in itself. From joyful to comforting to holidays to festivals, its so so so much fun!

Isn't it strange that you realize how capable you are only after you have done the work!

From making new recipes to learning about Photography, Food Styling Techniques, Recipes, and Videography, this blog showcases the amazing culinary journey of mine. 😇

Take your time, look around my blog, enjoy the ambiance, and most importantly try these delectable recipes! 😊😊😊
