Believe it or not these Halloween cookies are actually super easy to make. Crinkle cookies might look difficult to make but they're actually super easy and so adorable. If you follow these steps to make the best Halloween crinkle cookies you will definitely nail it. 😇😍😍😍
- Remember to cut the cookie dough balls with Confectioners sugar and NOT granulated sugar. This is because only confectioner sugar fine enough to enter into the crinkle of the cookie to creating those gorgeous crinkles which we love about these cookies.
- Do not forget to chill the cookie dough. Crinkle cookie dough is supposed to be sticky and thick. But only if you refrigerate it overnight or for 2 to 3 days or if you are in a pinch and need to get them quickly then you can freeze the cookie dough for at least 30 minutes and then use it. Refrigerating or freezing the cookie dough will make sure that all the excess moisture of the cookie gets gets dried out from the cold air of the refrigerator and you are left with perfectly dry cookie dough which bakes to perfection giving you that amazing Halloween crinkle cookie.
- Do not flatten the cookies before baking crinkle cookies have a tendency of flattening out themselves while they are baking.
- If even after nine minutes of cooking your cookies haven't started to flatten out then get them out of the oven and slightly tap the baking dish on the counter for 2 to 3 times or use a wooden spatula to lightly press the top of the cookies so that it initiates the flattening process.
- If you're using red candy melts then the possibility of your cookie dough to be thick and sticky will be higher however do not worry because refrigerating or freezing the cookie dough will get rid of all the excess moisture from your cookie dough.
- If you're using red candy melts then microwave the candy melts in the oven for 30 seconds and whisk until smooth and lamb free only when it comes down to room temperature put it into your vet make sure of the cookie dough.

Carol says
Followed the recipe and the “dough” was cake consistency and was not thick and sticky. Maybe the butter should be room temp instead of melted? We’ll see how they turn out.
Anjali says
Hi Carol,
You can use butter softened to room temp. However, the cakey dough is typical of Crinkle Cookie Dough. Just refrigerate a little longer and you can even sprinkle some flour and mix with the cookie dough if its too cakey, even after refrigeration. Hope this helps you!
Krista says
Hey i made this and it was so sticky to my hands didnt turn out and i dont know what i did wrong
Anjali says
There is nothing wrong with the cookie dough being sticky. It is supposed to be sticky. You didn't do anything wrong. Just stick it in the fridge overnight or in the freezer for 20-minutes (wrapped in a plastic wrap) and then you should be good.
