How to make Crack Chicken

STEP 1: MAKE THE CHICKEN MIXTURE

  • Combine Ground Chicken with Panko Breadcrumbs, Cheddar Cheese and Dry Ranch Seasoning mix

STEP 2: FORM BURGERS

  • Form this mixture into burgers
  • Heat Olive Oil in a skillet or Brush the Grill grates with oil
  • Add the burgers and cook for 4-5 min per side. (If using a skillet, cook on medium-high heat for 4 to 5 minutes, per side)

STEP 3: SERVE

  • Serve the Burgers with your favorite topping, along with some crispy fried Bacon strips.

Remember that the Dry Ranch Seasoning mix is already salted. So I have skipped the use of extra salt to make the burgers.

However, check the ingredients in your Ranch Seasoning and make sure that it has added salt.

If it doesn't, then you can add salt and pepper to the burger mixture.

HINT

If your Burger is falling apart and is too dry, add one cracked egg or just some Canola Oil to bind the mixture and form your Burgers.

Substitutions

  • Chicken Breasts - I would prefer Chicken Breasts over thighs for this recipe as breast pieces really cooks perfectly in the slow cooker and are easier to shred and use.
  • Shredded Chicken - if you're making slow cooker crack chicken, use Shredded Chicken rather than Ground Chicken
  • Lettuce - instead of ice berg lettuce, you can use Romaine Lettuce or Kale or Spinach
  • Bun - I like to use gluten free buns instead of white hambuger buns. They are healthy and gluten free.
  • Vegetarian - Make a Vegetarian version of Cracked Chicken Burger by replacing Chicken with Cooked Quinoa.

Variations

  • Spicy - Crack Chicken is generally hearty, mild and coforting. However, you can make this a little spicy by adding some chopped Jalapenos and Hot Sauce in the burger mixture.
  • Toppings - You can add toppings like onions, tomatoes and crispy fried Bacon strips in the Burger.

Storage

You can make the burger ahead of time and freeze this. Thaw them overnight in the refrigerator and reheat them before use.

You can also freeze precooked Burgers. Double wrap them with foil and cellophane and freeze for up to 3 months. You can also refrigerate precooked Burgers for 1 week.

Loved this. I added some more seasonings to it like garlic and onion powder, but my husband preferred it otherwise! Loved it! Definitely will make it again.
