While sometimes I do use store bought Tzatziki sauce but there's something so delicious about a homemade Tzatziki sauce.
Its like all the fresh herbs flavors burst in every spoonful of this Greek inspired sauce.
Here are the list of ingredients you'll need to make homemade Tzatziki sauce.
- Greek Yogurt - You would need thick greek yogurt to make the best Tzatziki sauce. If you do not have thick yogurt, you can use a muslin cloth or clean kitchen towel to squeeze out the extra moisture from yogurt and then use it.
- Cucumber grated - Make sure you drain the excess moisture from cucumber using a kitchen towel before using it.
- Garlic - freshly minced or grated garlic adds to the flavor of homemade Tzatziki sauce.
- Parsley - Ideally you need to use fresh Dill leaves to make homemade Tzatziki Sauce. However if you do not have Dill, you can use Fresh Parsley or Fresh Basil.
- Lemon Juice - this acts like an acid which helps preserve the Tzatziki sauce for a long time.
- Salt & Pepper - to season the Tzatziki Sauce
- Olive Oil - You need to use really good quality Extra Virgin Olive Oil to make Tzatziki Sauce.
