Last Minute Thanksgiving Treats everyone will love

Sep 20, 2025 No Comments

There's something special about autumn here in Baltimore. The leaves crunch beneath your feet, the air becomes crisp, and there's that unmistakable smell of fireplaces lighting up and pies baking in someone's kitchen nearby.

Thanksgiving is absolutely one of my favorite times of the year—not just for the big meal, but for all the snuggle little traditions that go along with it. And one of my personal favorite traditions? Creating (and sharing!) the most adorable turkey-themed goodies you ever did see.

I don't mean real turkey, mind you. I'm referring to desserts and snack foods made up to look like turkeys—turkey-sized cupcakes covered in candy corn feathers, rice krispie treats formed into turkey shapes, Oreo turkeys made with googly eyes, and Nutter Butter cookie turkeys so adorable, they'll melt your heart before you even bite into them.

Over the years, I’ve found myself returning to these little treats again and again. Why? Because they check every single box. They're fun, festive, and just downright adorable. They’re the perfect way to bring a little extra joy and whimsy to the Thanksgiving season, especially when things get hectic and you’re juggling a million other things. These turkey treats are my favorite for so many reasons—and if you haven't prepared them yet, I assure you're going to be head over heels with them, too.

To start with, let's discuss how simple they are. Some of my best Thanksgiving treats take hours—pies, cakes, and all the rest. But these? You can make a whole batch of turkey cupcakes or cookie pops within an hour. Nine times out of ten, you don't even have to bake anything homemade.

Cookies from the store, pre-cooked rice krispie squares, even boxed brownie bites are all perfect. Toss in some candies, edible eyes, and some melted chocolate or frosting, and voila—you've got something that looks like it came from Pinterest without the effort. The best part they are absolute make ahead Thanksgiving recipes with minimal effort.

They're great for the last-minute dash as well. I don't know how many times I've required a fast dessert for a party in the classroom, a party for the neighbors, or to take to Friendsgiving, and these turkey treats have come to the rescue. They travel well, they're visually striking, and they always please.

And if you have children at home, believe me—they will not only devour them, but they'll enjoy assisting in making them, as well. My kitchen becomes a mini candy craft factory each year, and it's really one of my favorite parts of our holiday celebration.

These treats are also perfect for sharing. I adore creating little treat bags with a few turkey cupcakes or cookie turkeys stowed away inside and handing them out to neighbors, teachers, or even visitors as a sweet little memento. It's a considerate action that doesn't take much time or money, but it always puts smiles on people's faces. Actually, distributing them has almost become a tradition on my part—I enjoy sending guests on their way with something sweet after they've visited for Thanksgiving supper. It's a little, edible thank-you note.

And don't even get us started on how customizable these are. If you're looking for something really, really simple or you go full-on with fondant feathers and piped frosting details, there's a turkey treat out there for you. You can make them allergy-friendly, gluten-free, nut-free—whatever suits your crew. You can even have a DIY treat bar if you're having kids (or kids-at-heart) so they can decorate their own.

In short, turkey-themed Thanksgiving treats are my secret weapon during the holidays. They bring joy, they’re easy to make ahead, and they always earn a chorus of “awwws” before the first bite. Whether you’re hosting a crowd, packing up goodies for a school party, or just looking to add a little fun to your holiday spread, these adorable little desserts are the way to go.

So break out the cookies, candy, and googly eyes—it's turkey treat time!
