Taco Dip is a classic appetizer recipe made with sour cream, cream cheese and taco seasoning.
Layered Taco Dip has three layers or more sometimes or refried beans, sour cream, cream cheese, shredded cheese, salsa and guacamole.
It is generally topped with shredded cheddar cheese, sliced olives, juicy roma tomatoes, shredded lettuce and hot jalapenos.
However you can even top with red onions, scallions, raddish etc.

Ingredients needed to make Spider Web Taco Dip
- Refried Beans - This is the first layer of the taco dip. Its warmed and then added in the pie dish
- Cream Cheese - used to make the second creamy layer
- Sour Cream - mixed with cream cheese
- Lime Juice - just to add a bit of flavor
- Taco Seasoning - adds a tonne of flavors to the second layer
- Guacamole - the last layer of the Taco dip. You can make homemade guacamole or use store bought one.
Toppings
- Shredded Cheddar Cheese - added around the spider web
- Black Olives pitted, sliced - for spooky spider decoration
- diced tomatoes - adds to the tasty taco dip
- Chopped Jalapeno rings - people love a bit of spice in this dip
- cilantro finely chopped - for garnish around the dip
Spider Web
- sour cream - to make the spider web
- Milk - used to thin the sour cream so that it gets pour able when making the spider web.

How to make Spider Web Layered Taco Dip
The 1st Layer: Layer the refried beans at the bottom layer of a pie dish. Heat it in the oven for 5-10 min. Then refrigerate for 20 min.
The 2nd Layer: The next layer will be that of sour cream and cream cheese. So beat sour cream and cream cheese along with taco seasoning in a medium sized mixing bowl using a hand held mixer or just use a whisk until beated smooth. Layer this over the Refried Beans Layer.
The 3rd Layer: Pour Guacamole over the layer of sour cream. If you're making homemade Guacamole, you can use that as well.
The spider web: Now, combine sour cream and milk in a small mixing bowl. Spoon this mixture in a squirting bottle or piping bag or zip lock bag. Snip off the edge and make spider web pattern over the Guacamole layer.
Add the toppings: Add shredded cheddar cheese around the spider web.Top with black olive slices, diced tomatoes, chopped jalapeno rings and cilantro.
Serve: Add a plastic spider in the center or make a faux spider using olives.
Hint: Tightly cover with foil or cling wrap and Refrigerate the dip after adding the final layer of guacamole or else it will turn brown if kept outside. Draw the spider web design right before serving.
Tips to make the Best Spider Web Layered Taco Dip
- You can make an edible spider to top over the dip
- Cut a olive in half and make the body of spider. Use the other half cut into thin strips to make the tentacles and use the top half to make the head.

- I have used milk to thin the sour cream so that it becomes easier to decorate on top. You can use water as well
- Warming the milk and then combining with sour cream will make it easier to use
- You can add desired toppings around the spider web like chopped lettuce or jalapenos
- The guacamole might begin to brown when kept out for long. However it is still safe to eat.

Spider Web Layered Taco Dip
INGREDIENTS
- 16 oz Refried Beans

- 8 oz Cream Cheese
- 12 oz Sour Cream
- 2 tablespoon Taco Seasoning
- 1 tablespoon Fresh Lime Juice
- 16 oz Guacamole

- 2 cups Shredded Cheddar Cheese
- ½ cup Black Olives pitted, sliced
- 1 cup cherry tomatoes halved
- 1 tablespoon cilantro finely chopped

- ¼ cup sour cream
- 1 tablespoon Milk
INSTRUCTIONS
- Spread the refried beans in the bottom of a large 12" pie dish. Microwave for 5 min. Refrigerate until you make the second layer.
- In a medium sized mixing bowl, beat cream cheese with sour cream, lime juice, and taco seasoning. Beat using a hand held mixer or use a wired whisk to beat it until it gets creamy and smooth. Pour this mixture over the refried beans layer and refrigerate for 20 min.
- Add a layer of Guacamole over the sour cream mixture. If you're making homemade Guacamole, use that.
- Now combine Sour Cream with milk in a small mixing bowl using a spoon or wired whisk to make it thin so that it squirts out easily out of a squirt bottle. Spoon this mixture to a squirting bottle or piping bag or a ziplock bag with corner snipped off.
- Draw Spider Web over the Guacamole layer in the Taco Dip. Sprinkle shredded cheese around the spider web. Top with olive slices, diced tomaotes, chopped cilantro and Jalapenos over the cheese.
- Top with a plastic spider in the center or use black olives to make a spider. Refrigerate until you serve. Serve with Tortilla Chips.
