Lemon Buttercream Frosting is a creamy frosting with citrus-y taste that'll remind you of the summers. This easy American Buttercream Frosting with Lemon zest tastes sublime, refreshing and so creamy!

The other day, while making some Cupcake frosting, the idea of Lemon Buttercream Frosting crossed my mind. I was not really sure how good this would turn out to be. I mean I have made Lemon Cream Cheese frosting and got rave reviews about it. But this one, umm! Let's see.

So, I made my buttercream frosting with Butter and Icing sugar.

The key to getting a stiff frosting is beating the butter for at least 5 minutes. If you do not beat your Butter properly, it will not be a good frosting.

Frosting should be light and fluffy and beating the butter does exactly that to your frosting.

So, I made my Buttercream frosting and added my lemon zest. I added very less quantity as this was just an experiment and I loved the flavors.

Let's talk about that wonderful citrus-y aroma! Gosh! That's to die for. I just love citrus flavors and anything lemon is always one of my favorites.

I make this lemon buttercream frosting for my lemon cupcakes or chocolate cupcakes (yes! its a fab combo) and even by vanilla cupcakes!

How to make Lemon Buttercream Frosting?

To make Lemon Buttercream frosting, start by beating the butter using a handheld mixer or stand mixture for at least 5 minutes or until it's light, fluffy and has doubled in size.

Then, sift icing sugar slowly into your Butter. Sifting the sugar is important so that there are no lumps. Also, be slow in adding your sugar. Add your sugar in parts and keep mixing until you get a smooth frosting.

Finally, add just a pinch of lemon zest and a drop of yellow gel food color and mix well.

The yellow food color just looks so perfect with a lemon frosting. However, if you do not have it at home, skip it!

Finally, your Lemon Buttercream Frosting is ready.

You can use this frosting for any lemon cupcakes or Cakes. This goes especially well with Cream Cheese Cakes or Cupcakes.

So, check out the recipe of Lemon Buttercream Frosting below!
