Vanilla Bean Cupcakes with Red, White, and Blue Sprinkles

Moist and Soft Vanilla Bean Cupcakes are bursting with the most fragrant Vanilla Bean flavor. And top that with the fluffiest Cream Cheese frosting which is not too sweet not too tarty.

Isn't Cream Cheese frosting the best of all. Its so easy to make, holds shape perfectly and doesn't even needs a lot of beating.
Of course, I love Buttercream Frosting over my cupcakes as well. But in this hot weather, its really insane to make Buttercream as it shall never form up and hold shape on the cupcakes.
Speaking of Buttercream this Lemon Buttercream Frosting is giving me all the feels! Chocolate Cupcake with Lemon Buttercream Frosting is one of my absolute summer favorites.
Ingredients needed to Bake Red, White & Blue Funfetti Cupcakes
CUPCAKES
- Butter Cake Mix Box
- Vegetable Oil
- Eggs
FROSTING
- Icing Sugar
- Cream Cheese
- Unsalted Butter (softened)
- Patriotic Candy Sprinkles

How to make Patriotic Day Cupcakes
Cupcakes
- Cut a Vanilla Bean down the center part using a sharp knife. Scrape off the seeds using a knife.
- In a mixing bowl, combine Cake Mix, Vanilla Bean Seeds, Oil and Eggs.
- Whisk until combined using a stand mixer or hand held mixer over and the cake batter gets smooth and creamy
- Gently fold in the Red, White, and Blue Candy Sprinkles. Donot over mix or the colors will spill over.
- Add the cupcake batter to the cupcake liners.
- Bake @350F for 12-15 min.
- Once it gets baked, allow it to cool down for 5-10 min on a wire rack.
- Whisk Cream Cheese, Softened Butter, Icing Sugar, Vanilla Bean Seeds.
- Beat for 2-3 minutes until stiff peaks form
- Add it into a piping bag attached with your favorite nozzle or just snap a piping bag in the corner.
- Frost the cupcakes.
- Top with the Patriotic Sprinkles.
- Refrigerate until you serve!
HINT
- Do not over mix the cupcake batter with the Funfetti. Just fold in gently!
- You can top the cupcakes with small American Flags or any other Patriotic Day Decorations as well
- Fill the cupcakes only about 2/3 of the liners. Do not over fill as any higher shall topple over!
- Top the cupcakes with frosting only after they get baked and cool down for 5-10 minutes on a wire rack

The Best Vanilla Bean Cupcakes
But if you're Team Vanilla, this Vanilla Bean Cupcake recipe is everything you need to make your Summers unforgettable.
I add two Vanilla Bean Seeds into the cupcake batter, which gives them that intense Vanilla Flavor which is so good.
I made these Vanilla Bean Cupcakes last month, without the sprinkles and my Neighbors are still raving about it! I think i need to make another batch this weekend to share with them! They love it! And I love it too!!!!
Variations
- Top with Fruits - If you do not have Patriotic Sprinkles at home, just use fresh Blueberries and Strawberries to top over the cupcake frosting. It will give the perfect Red, Blue and White Color to these Cupcakes.
- Buttercream Frosting - Instead of Cream Cheese Frosting, use Buttercream Frosting. However, remember to refrigerate the frosting for 5-10 minutes in the piping bag before frosting.
- Gluten Free - Use your favorite Gluten Free Cake Mix for this recipe.
Storage
Store the frosted cupcakes in an airtight container, sealed tighty with the lid. However, you must make sure that the container is deep enough so that the frosting doesn't get smushed. You can refrigerate frosted cupcakes for upto a week in the refrigerator.
These cupcakes don't stand up well to freezing.

Top tips to Bake the Best July 4th Funfetti Cupcakes
- Do not over mix the cupcake batter with the Funfetti. Just fold in gently!
- Use any shaped Red, Blue, and White Sprinkles
- If you cannot find Cake Mix, use 3 cups of AP Flour, 1 teaspoon of Baking Powder & 1/2 teaspoon of Kosher Salt.
- You can top the cupcakes with small American Flags or any other Patriotic Day Decorations as well
- You can even add Red and Blue Food Color to the frosting, (divided) and then frost the cupcakes
- You can make the frosting and refrigerate it for 10 minutes while the cupcakes bake and cool down. Then transfer it to a piping bag for decoration.
July 4th Funfetti Cupcakes
INGREDIENTS
CUPCAKES
- 3 cups Boxed Cake Mix
- 1 ½ cup Vegetable Oil or 2 sticks softened unsalted butter
- 1 ¾ cup Granulated Sugar
- 1½ cup Whole milk
- 3 large Eggs
- 1 CUP Cream Cheese Frosting
- 1 cup Patriotic Sprinkles OR any Red and Blue Sprinkles
INSTRUCTIONS
- Cut a Vanilla Bean down the center part using a sharp knife. Scrape off the seeds using a knife. Line a muffin tin with Red and Blue Cupcake Liners. Preheat the oven to 350°F.
- Take a large mixing bowl. Add the boxed Cake Mix, Vegetable Oil, Eggs, Whole Milk, and Vanilla Bean Seeds to it. Beat using a stand mixer or hand held mixer until the cupcake batter gets smooth and creamy!
- Now, gently fold in the Red and White Sprinkles. Do not over mix or else the colors will spill over.
- Add the batter to the cupcake liners. Fill only till 2/3 of the liners or else it will topple over. Bake @350°F for 10-15 minutes .Once the cupcakes gets baked, allow then to cool down on a wire rack for 5-10 min.
- Make Cream Cheese frosting: Combine Cream Cheese (kept at room temp.) with Icing Sugar, Softened Butter and Vanilla Bean seeds. Beat until combined and the frosting gets smooth and fluffy.
- Take this in a piping bag attached with your favorite star tipped nozzle or just snip the edge and frost the cupcakes. Top with the colorful star shaped Patriotic Sprinkles.Refrigerate until you serve!
