How to make Chocolate and Nuts covered Strawberries
Making Chocolate Covered Strawberries is easy and so fun. However, there are a few tips and tricks which I'll share along the way that will make your life so much easier.
Start by picking the best Strawberries. Many people ignore this and simply go-ahead with coating any Strawberries they get. However, I think if you choose a perfect shaped Strawberry and also one which is not too soft and ripe, that's going to coat perfectly with the Chocolate and is going to stay fresh longer!
It is always great to choose a little dry Strawberries. Wash the Strawberries, and then pat them dry using a paper towel. Be sure to remove all the moisture, especially from the top greens. As water will not allow the chocolate to set over the Strawberries. As the Strawberries get absolutely dry, only then use them.
Melt Dark Chocolate: Melt some Dark Chocolate melting wafers with few drops of Coconut oil in the oven.
Stir and once it gets silky smooth, dip half of the Strawberries into the Chocolate and coat all over. Allow the excess chocolate to drip off and place it on a parchment paper-lined plate. Top with thinly sliced Almonds.
If you're using Dark Chocolate brick, then cut it into small chunks. Place it on a double boiler with a slice of butter and melt the chocolate stirring constantly. Once the chocolate has melted but is still somewhat clumped, take it off the heat and place it in a cool place. Stir constantly so that the Chocolate smoothens out and the temperature of the melted chocolate decreases.
What Nuts Goes best with Strawberries?
This is a question I get asked so often. Strawberries go wonderfully with nuts, especially Walnuts, Pecans, and Almonds.
Allow the Chocolate to set: Allow the Chocolate to set in the refrigerator for 5-10 minutes and serve immediately. DO NOT Freeze the Strawberries. I know you will want the chocolate coating to harden up quickly so that you can enjoy these Strawberries but never make the mistake of freezing Chocolate Covered Strawberries. What will happen is the Strawberries will become rock hard and impossible to eat. Even if you thaw them on the counter, they will release moisture and the Strawberries will get all mushy!
How to make Chocolate and Nuts covered Strawberries ahead of time?
I would always suggest you make this Chocolate and Nuts covered Strawberries ahead of time. This way the Chocolate will get time to set over the Strawberries. You can make it the night ahead and serve it the next day.
How to store Chocolate and Nuts covered Strawberries
You need to store these on a parchment paper-lined plate in the refrigerator. These are going to stay in the refrigerator just as long as fresh strawberries would stay. However, strawberries get moldy very often. So you should consider consuming these within 48 hours.
DO NOT Line a tray with aluminum foil and place the Strawberries. Aluminum foil will get stuck to the Strawberries and it will get next to impossible to remove it. You can use a Silicone mat lined plate or a Parchment Paper lined plate. Do not cover. Keep the Strawberries at 1-inch distance from the other so that it gets easy to pick them up later.
So, this was all about this Chocolate and Nuts covered Strawberries. I hope you liked these and shall make them soon. If you happen to follow this recipe, then tag me with #recipemagik on Instagram.
