Thick Pizza sauce is exactly what you need to smear on your homemade pizza. I generally make this while making Pizza and store it for at least a month. I keep this in the freezer and it stays just fine. However, if you want to refrigerate your Pizza sauce, I recommend to not use it beyond 7 days.
Important tips while making Pizza sauce at home
It's very important to use ripe tomatoes for your sauce. If you do not use ripe tomatoes, your sauce will take a lot of time to cook. If you are using canned tomato paste then go for a really fresh one. If you are using fresh tomatoes, then use the ripe ones and chop then real nice before you allow them to cook. It'll cook fast and save you a tonne of time.
Italian seasoning is very important for the homemade pizza sauce. You can buy Italian seasoning from stores. However, to make Italian seasoning at home, you can use Oregano, Red Chilli flakes, dried Basil, dried Thyme, dried rosemary, dried parsley, and garlic powder. These are the 7 basil herbs and spices which you must add to make your Italian seasoning at home.
How to make Thick Pizza Sauce at home from scratch?
I know that there are a lot of Pizza sauce recipes and everyone has their own version. Well, this is mine. Feel free to ask any questions if you have about replacements.
Generally, to start making Pizza sauce at home, I start by heating olive oil in a skillet and to it, I add chopped garlic and onions. You can use garlic and onion powders as well. however, if you are using the powders then first you will have to cook the tomatoes and then add the powders. I stress using chopped garlic and onions because that gives the desired thickness to the sauce.
So, after I heat my garlic and onions, I add the tomato paste along with tomato ketchup.
After this, I add the Italian seasoning, salt, sugar, and freshly ground black pepper.
At this stage, you can add some water to tone down the strong flavor of tomatoes. I like that incredibly strong tomato flavor in my Pizza sauce so I do not add water.
I simply put the Pizza sauce to boil and once it starts to boil, I take it out.
You can simply use your pizza sauce for your homemade Pizza and store the rest in the refrigerator.
How can you use leftover Pizza sauce
You can use leftover Pizza sauce in your pasta or noodles. You can also use a spoon of it into soups and it'll taste awesome.
