- Yellow Onion - For a mild taste, you can substitute red onions with yellow onions.
- Rice - Generally, everyone uses white rice. But, if you want you can use brown rice as well.
- Cholua - If you can find Cholua then you can use any variety of Hot sauce you find in the market. or simply make Hot sauce at home.

Can I Cook Rice in the Same Pot?
Yes. That'll be amazing.
You can cook rice in the same pot along with sausage and pepper. Just add raw uncooked rice in the skillet with equivalent amount of chicken broth. Cover and cook for 5-10 minutes or until the broth is well absorbed and the rice is fully cooked.
How do you cook sausages in a pan?
To cook sausages in a pan, add about a tablespoon of oil in the pan. You don't need to add more oil since sausage contains fat and that is more than enough to cook it.
Just add a tablespoon of oil in the pan and cook one side until lightly golden brown.
Flip it over and cook the other side as well.
Basically oil forms a barrier between the sausage and the pan. It keeps the sausage from sticking to the pan.
How do you tell if a sausage is cooked?
Don't go by the color of the sausage on the outside. It can be very deceiving. Although it looks crisp on the outside, it might be quite raw on the inside.
So, use a meat thermometer to figure it out. If it records an internal temperature of 155 to 160 degrees F then your sausage is perfectly cooked.
What do you eat with sausages and peppers?
Sausage and Peppers can be served with rice (since this a one-pot recipe) therefore there is nothing else that you need with this.
But, in case you want to try sausage and pepper with something else you can choose from:
- Creamy Mushroom Garlic Risotto
- Garlic Butter Sauteed Green Beans with Parmesan
- Cucumber Salad
- Cajun Chicken Pasta
- Sweet Corn Casserole {5-ingredient} with Jiffy Mix
How do I make Cajun Sausage?
Share something here that you think is key to making this recipe well, such as: Don't overcook the burgers! Sear the outside and cook to a minimum internal temperature, but they should still be juicy for best results.
TOP TIPS
- Always use Cast-iron skillet when making this recipe. You can use a non-stick skillet, but cast-iron is much better.
- I prefer Avocado Oil since its the healthiest form of oil available in the market today. You can definitely choose olive oil, or butter or anything else that you like.
- I like Kielbasa Sausages so I have used them, feel free to swap it with Andouille sausage or any other sausage that you like.
- If you prefer a much healthier version of this one pot sausage and peppers with rice then you can use Turkey Sausages.
