What are Smoothie Bowls?

Thick and Creamy Dragonfruit Smoothie Bowl
Thick and Creamy Dragonfruit Smoothie Bowl

Smoothie Bowls are better than smoothies. It's thick and creamy and made without using Milk or Yogurt. I have used just a little bit of Coconut Milk because it tastes really good with Dragon Fruit and lends a nutty taste to this smoothie bowl.

  • As it gets blended and smooth, transfer to a bowl.

STEP 2: Serve

  • Top the smoothie bowl with some more chopped Bananas, chopped Mangos, Chia Seeds, and Shredded Coconut.

Smoothie bowl Topping

The best thing about a fruity Smoothie Bowl is, of course, the Topping. I love to use some fresh or frozen fruits along with healthy seeds for my topping. From Pumpkin seeds to Hemp Seeds to Chia Seeds to Flax Seeds to Coconut Flakes to Almonds to Walnuts to Macadamia Nuts, you can add any topping you love.

Substitutions

  • Coconut Milk - instead of Coconut Milk, you can use Almond Milk or just skip it.
  • Fruits - Dragon fruit is typiclly tasteless, so adding fruits makes it taste extra good. You can include any fruits you love or have.
  • Low Sugar - If you are avoiding Sugar, then replace Banana and Mango with Apple Sauce or Blueberries. These taste excellent with Dragonfruit.

Storage

It's extremely rewarding to make ahead of your smoothie bowl and freeze it for later. I like to make my smoothie bowl the night before and have it the next day.

All you need to do is transfer it to a bowl and cover it with a lid. You can freeze this smoothie bowl for 1 day.

FAQS

Are Smoothie Bowls ActuallyHealthy?

Yes! Smoothie Bowls are very healthy. Infact they are healthier than smoothies because its made with whole foods. Whole ingredients are used in Smoothie Bowls which is why they are so healthy.

What makes a Smoothie Bowl thick?

Smoothie Bowls are thick because generally frozen fruits and berries are used to make this. Also, since almost no liquid is used to make a smoothie bowl, so its thick and creamy. Also whole nuts and chia seeds or sometimes flaxseeds are used in a smoothie bowl, for the a nutty texture and thickness in the smoothie bowl.
If your smoothie bowl is not thick, you might want to freeze it for a few hours before you serve it.
