Easy, Cheesy, Crispy Pan Pizza Recipe
There are days when I am craving to go for a takeaway. But no matter what! I have had to tell myself time and again that too much fast food isn't good for me. But, how do I fill the food shape hole in my heart? Or should I say lip-smackingly delicious takeaway food-shaped hole in my heart?
Well, finally I have found something to please myself. This easy cheesy homemade Pan Pizza recipe is something that I make quite often. Now, I can say with conviction that my heart won't really crave for takeaway food. In fact, it doesn't! Why?
Well, what can be better in the world than the sizzling sound of pizza being cooked on the pan? can there be anything more appealing to the eyes that that sight of mozzarella cheese slowly melting its way into the pizza dough? Can there be anything more appetizing than those cheesy lines when you cut out your part of pizza from the rest? I think nothing compares to that!
Making this Pan Pizza is really easy. In fact, it's easier if you have a store-bought pizza base and a pizza sauce. But, call me crazy or whatever, I like to make my Pizza dough and my pizza sauce.
You can learn how to make an appetizing Pizza sauce at home and store it in the fridge for weeks. You can also learn how to make a homemade Pizza Dough for pan pizza within 10-minutes.
After you've made your pizza dough and your pizza sauce the rest of the recipe takes less than 10-12 minutes. You got to roll out your pizza dough as large as you possibly can.
Before you roll out your pizza make sure you cover your rolling board with enough wheat flour or All-Purpose flour or Semolina or Cornstarch. Without enough flour, you won't be able to roll your pizza dough and even if you roll it, you won't be able to pick it up and place it on the pan.
So, to be on the safe side, dust as much flour or semolina or cornstarch as you possibly can. The reason I have told you to use semolina or cornstarch is that they create a crunchy layer on your pizza base.
I have seen many people asking me how to make a crunchy pizza base. And the only way to get that desirable crunch is by using semolina or cornstarch along with some wheat flour. The mixture of both helps you roll your pizza dough smoothly and creates a crunchy crust as the bottom.
Grease your pan with olive oil. And, carefully place your rolled out pizza dough on it. I prefer Olive oil. But you can use many other flavored oils like Oregano flavored oil or pepperoncini oil which are equally good for your crispy pan pizza. You can use butter as well. If you have none of these you can always go for vegetable oil. But, with vegetable oil the taste will be a little different but it'll still be good. But I highly recommend using olive oil or any other flavored oil for that true-blue Italian taste.
Use a fork to make many small dents on the pizza so that the pizza base remains flat. Use your hands to press the sides so that the sides get cooked well.
Now pour your pizza sauce all over the pizza base. Smoothen it out with a spoon or a spatula to that the pizza is well covered with the pizza sauce.
This is the time to add a layer of grated mozzarella cheese. Now add your veggies. I have used diced red onions, green bell pepper, and tomatoes as my veggies. To give it a sweet touch I have added some sweet corn as well.
If you are making a Chicken Pizza this is the right time to add your grilled/cooked/barbequed chicken chunks. In case you want to add panner cubes or a healthier option - tofu then this is the right time to cut them into cubes and place them neatly all over the mozzarella cheese. You can even add mushrooms at this point in time.
Now, grate one more layer of mozzarella cheese all over your veggies. So, the purpose behind adding so much mozzarella cheese is that it makes it cheesy. This mozzarella cheese creates a delicious layer over our pizza. It envelopes the veggies and creates a gorgeous layer over it. When you take a bite of your pizza you get a crunch from the pizza base, moisture from the pizza sauce and a cheesy veggie layer to make it all taste much more amazing.
Now cover your pan pizza with a lid and turn on the flame. Keep the flame on medium-to-low. Cook for exactly 8-minutes. And, your delicious, cheesy, crispy Pan Pizza will be ready. Take it out and season it with crushed Oregano and Red Chili Flakes.
