INSTRUCTIONS
Wash the apples, and dry them using a kitchen towel. Remove the stem.Prepare a sheet pan with parchment paper and grease with butter on top. Use a metal straw to punch hole over the apple and insert a bamboo skewer or a natural branch if you want to.
To make the candy coating, add sugar and water in a saucepan over medium low heat.As the sugar dissolves, add corn syrup, vanilla extract and black food color. Stir to combine and let this mixture come to a slow boil over low heat. As the candy mixture comes to a boil, do not stir. Dip your spatula in water and then stir towards the end, to remove any sugar crystals which might have got stuck to the bottom of the pan. Use a candy thermometer to check the temp. It should be about 300F.
Carefully, remove the sugar mixture from heat. Dip the apples in the candy coating and place on the lined baking dish.
Repeat with remaining apples. Once the apples harden, serve.
