Thin Crust Pizza Dough Without Yeast

Make this easy Pizza dough at home and that too without yeast. If you have been thinking that Pizza dough is a difficult recipe to crack, then relax. Today, I'll teach you how to make the perfect pizza dough at home from scratch without yeast.

I love making pizza dough at home. There is something so special about baking Pizza at home from scratch. In my family, we love it so much that Pizza is an absolute essential in my weekly dinner rotations.

How to make Pizza Dough at home?

First, take wheat flour along with baking soda and baking powder in a mixing bowl and mix well.

Now to this add some thick Greek Yogurt and Olive Oil. Knead it into a soft dough. (If you do not have Yogurt at home, you can use Sour Cream as a replacement and it'll work just fine)

Add some Oregano, Sugar, and Salt to your dough and knead well.

Brush some oil on your dough and keep it in an airtight container for 30 minutes in a warm place. (Preheat your oven to 400F and then turn off the oven. Cover your dough in an airtight container and keep in the hot oven).

After 30 minutes your Pizza dough will be ready for further use.

Roll out the dough into a 12inch radius circle. Use a lot of flour so that you can roll out your dough easily.

Place it in oil greased Pan and add the Pizza sauce and your toppings to make your favorite kind of Thin Crust Pizza.

Typically a Pizza dough is made with yeast. You follow the same procedure, just replace the Yogurt with yeast which has been activated in warm water.

However, if you do not have yeast at home or you want to make a Pizza dough at home without yeast, you can use Thick Greek Yogurt. Yogurt has lactic acid which helps in the leavening of the dough.

Also, you can use a small amount of vinegar along with Yogurt.

The Acetic Acid in the White Vinegar will activate the Baking soda and start the leavening of the dough. You'll have a soft Pizza dough ready in just 15 minutes.

Should you use hot water or hot oil while making Pizza dough?

Hot water will help you knead a soft dough. However, typically if you are using Yogurt, you will not need water to knead your dough.

How to make a crispy Pizza?

To make your Pizza crispy, make your Pizza dough really soft and brush oil in the Pan before placing the Pizza bread. This will ensure that your Pizza is crispy.

Why make holes in the Pizza dough?

Use a fork to make indents in your Pizza dough. When you make Indents in the Pizza dough using a fork, you'll have a flat Pizza. You do not need to punch holes as you do in a pasty. Just some indenting will help you get a flat Pizza base.

Should you oil Pizza Dough?

Yes, you must knead your pizza dough with oil and also apply some oil when you are done kneading the dough. Oiling the Pizza dough will make your Pizza crust crispy.

Don't over-knead the dough

Over-kneading the pizza dough will make your dough too soggy as a lot of gluten will release.  What you'll have is a Pizza which has a crust which is too dry and rock-hard. To fix an over-kneaded dough, all you can possibly do is to just wait it out and allow the dough to rise up.

Tough Pizza Dough

Hard or tough Pizza dough happens when you use a lot of flour. So, it's important to use less amount of flour for making your Pizza dough. Also to fix a tough Pizza dough, you can just knead it well to soften it considerably.

Why add sugar to Pizza dough?

Adding sugar is an important step while making the Pizza dough. When you add sugar your dough will rise and shall be soft. And your pizza bread shall also be full of moisture.

Flavoring the Pizza Dough

Flavoring the Pizza dough is easy. Use Oregano or Italian seasoning to flavor your Dough. Or you can use herbed oils into making your pizza dough to infuse it with incredible flavors.

So, that's how you can make the perfect pizza dough at home. I hope you had fun learning about it! 🙂
