Rinse uncooked rice using a fine mesh strainer. Wash it under tap water. DO NOT SKIP THIS STEP. Washing the rice before cooking washes away excess starch from the rice yielding you perfectly cooked and fluffy rice which is not at all gummy.
Measure the perfect ratio of rice to water. The perfect ratio for rice to water is 1:11/2. i.e for each 1 cup of Rice you need 1 1/2 cups of water. Add this to a dutch pot or saucepan. Add a teaspoon of Olive Oil or any neutral tasting oil. Stir to combine. Cover and cook over medium high heat for 10-15 minutes.
After 15 min, fluff the rice using a fork and serve hot. OR Drain the rice under cold water. Doing this will get rid of the excess starch from the rice making them fluffy. Fluff the rice using a fork and serve.
